This study systematically evaluates the literature on supply chain risk management (SCRM) by investigating core SCRM characteristics and their conceptual interlinkages with resilience, robustness, disruption mitigation, and crisis management, alongside a critical examination of prevailing scholarly critiques. Employing a thematic analysis of 350 peer-reviewed articles indexed in the Web of Science database, the study synthesizes key dimensions underpinning resilient supply networks—specifically adaptability, reactivity, collaboration, redundancy, and transparency. The findings underscore crisis management as an indispensable pillar of SCRM, particularly during unforeseen disruptions, while identifying persistent operational bottlenecks surrounding data governance, communication silos, resource constraints, and cross-enterprise coordination. Furthermore, the analysis highlights critical research gaps regarding foundational antecedents, including relational competencies, procedural transparency, and cross-partner alignment. To address these vulnerabilities, this paper proposes that organizations cultivate an institutional culture of risk awareness and mutual collaboration across supply chain tiers, supported by formalized, dynamic risk assessment and mitigation frameworks.
