Abstract

Digital technologies have revolutionized the U.S. hotel industry, offering a variety of benefits that have made the industry more efficient, guest-friendly, and data-driven. But the growing reliance on technology also leaves hotels vulnerable to cybersecurity risks and technology disruptions that can have a major impact on their business continuity and bottom line. This research explores the effect of technology disruptions and cyber threats on business resilience in the U.S. hotel industry. The study examines the impact of cybersecurity incidents, system failures, and digital vulnerabilities on hotel operations, services, revenue generation, and recovery. It also explores the impact of business resilience planning, such as risk management, disaster recovery planning and strengthening technology systems, on minimising the impact of disruption. The study reveals that hotels with a more robust Resilience framework are more likely to continue to provide services, safeguard profitability and rebound from technology related issues. The findings offer important insights into how to improve the cybersecurity strategy and create sustainable operations strategies for hotel managers and industry stakeholders in a more digital hotel industry.
